Report Abuse What we act on and how to report it

We take abuse reports seriously and investigate every one. Giving us the right detail up front means we can act in hours rather than days.

What to report

Anything hosted by us that breaks the law or our policies is worth reporting. That includes phishing pages that imitate a bank or brand, malware and drive-by downloads, spam sent from our network, copyright infringement, and content that targets or endangers anyone.

• Phishing or a fake login page
• Malware, trojans, or a site that infects visitors
• Spam or bulk mail originating from our servers
• Copyright or trademark infringement
• Network abuse such as port scanning or denial-of-service traffic
• Content involving minors, which we escalate immediately

What to include

Send the full URL rather than just the domain, so we can find the exact page. For spam, include the complete message headers - they show the sending server and are the single most useful thing you can give us. For network abuse, include timestamps with the timezone and the IP addresses involved. Screenshots help, but they are not a substitute for the raw evidence.

What happens next

Reports are acknowledged and assigned to our security team. We verify the claim against server logs before acting, because a false positive can take an innocent site offline. Confirmed phishing and malware are suspended immediately. Other cases usually start with a notice to the site owner and a deadline to fix the problem, and move to suspension if it is ignored.

We will keep your identity confidential unless the law requires otherwise.

If your own site was suspended

Suspension is not the end of it. Open a ticket from the Client Area, remove the offending content or clean the infection, and tell us what you changed. Once we can verify the site is clean we restore it. Sites are most often compromised through an out-of-date plugin or a reused password, so change passwords and update everything before asking for a review.
